A common issue we see at the store is customers not being able to open attachments of newer Office documents. The customer may have MS Office 2003 installed on their computer, but the email includes a Microsoft Word 2010 document.
Luckily Microsoft provides Office File Converters and Viewers. Once you install the appropriate converter or viewer, you will be able to open the newer Office document. You will not be able to edit the file, but you should be able to view and access all the new features of the newer Office document.
