Some google search tricks

of Google Search tools many of us didn’t know existed.

• Do you want to know the time in another area?  In the search box type “what time is it in [place]”.  For example “What time is it in New York”

• Have you ever wondered what your IP address is?  In the search box type “my IP”.  The public IP for your computer or network will show.

• Did you want information on a flight?  Type the name of the airline and flight number, and you’ll get the departure and estimated arrival times.

• Want information on a product? Type the UPC code (that’s the numbers underneath the barcode).  Google will provide links on the product, and where you can buy it.

• Want to know where your package is?  Enter your tracking number in the search box and press Enter.  It doesn’t matter who the carrier is, Google will return the tracking information.

• Ever wonder how much $100 is in Euros?  Type it in and find out.  It works for any currency.

• Google search will also convert pretty much anything.  Cups in a liter, seconds in a week, etc.

• Ever search for something but find you get a lot of useless information?  Google allows you to narrow your search results.  Add a space and minus sign (-) and the word you would like excluded in your search.  For example, you are looking for flowers that are not roses and not yellow.  Your search would be “flowers –roses –yellow” (Don’t forget the space).
